Theatre Presentations:
'Coyote Spirit' & "The Pit House'
Osoyoos, British Columbia
Still from "Coyote Spirit"
theatre presentation
In the
Summer of 2004 Ubiquity was awarded the production contract
for a large screen video presentation to be featured
at the Osoyoos Indian Band’s Nk’Mip interpretive
centre in the Okanagan region of British Columbia.
The project called for a production
that promoted respect and understanding of the living
culture of the people, and that interpreted the lands
of the traditional Osoyoos territory. The Ubiquity team
created “Coyote Spirit’, an emotionally
engaging feature video presentation that conveys and
celebrates the heritage of the Osoyoos people who reside
in Canada’s last
remaining desert lands.
In the Summer of 2005 the contract
was extended to include a presentation for the reconstructed
‘Pit House’ dwelling at the Nk’mip
Centre. The Pit House presentation is a richly layered
four screen visitor experience. It tells the story of
the Osoyoos people using key images of the land, its
people, and the wildlife of the region to evoke the
close relationship between the people of this distinctive
region and their natural setting.
